Terms & Conditions

Last updated 17 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Compound Media Limited (RC 9572550), of 10 Onisiwo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria (“Compound”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of our websites — compoundafrica.com and its CRAFT section — and anything you buy from us, including CRAFT. By using the site, placing an order, or subscribing, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or buy from us. Questions: contact@compoundafrica.com.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on the site when you place an order is the one that applies to that order; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Who can buy

You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. You agree the details you give us (name, email, delivery address and so on) are accurate. We are not responsible for a failed or delayed delivery caused by incorrect or incomplete details you provide.

What we sell

CRAFT is a printed publication documenting design and architecture. You can buy it two ways: a single copy, or an annual subscription covering the editions published in your subscription year (currently two editions). Content, page count, cover options, contributors and release dates are described as accurately as we can at the time but may change, and printed colours, materials and finishes may vary slightly from images on the site.

Release and shipping dates (including “ships from October 2026”) are estimates, not guarantees, and may be affected by printing and delivery. A delay does not entitle you to a refund except as set out in our Refund, Returns & Delivery Policy.

Orders

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract forms only when we confirm your order and/or take payment. We may decline or cancel an order — for example if an item is unavailable, there was a pricing error, or we suspect fraud or abuse — and if we cancel after taking payment, we refund the amount paid for the cancelled item. If a price is clearly wrong, we do not have to honour it; we will tell you and let you choose to buy at the correct price or cancel.

Prices, VAT and payment

Prices are shown in Naira (₦) for Nigeria and US Dollars ($) for international customers, based on your location. Nigerian orders carry 7.5% VAT, added at checkout and shown before you pay. International orders are treated as exported goods and are not charged Nigerian VAT; you are responsible for any taxes or duties in your own country. Payment is handled by our providers — Paystack (Naira) and Stripe (US Dollars). By paying you authorise the charge and confirm you may use the payment method. We do not store your full card details.

Subscriptions

A subscription runs for 12 months from the date you subscribe, is paid upfront, and covers the editions published during that year, shipped to the address on your account. Subscriptions do not renew automatically. Near the end of your year we will contact you and invite you to renew — you will only be charged again if you choose to. Founding / “Neighbour” benefits (such as a member number or having your name printed inside an edition) are offered at our discretion and may change; once an edition goes to press its contents are final, and we cannot add, change or remove a name after that point.

Delivery, refunds and returns

Delivery timelines, risk, international duties, cancellations, and our stance on refunds and faulty items are set out in our Refund, Returns & Delivery Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: single copies are sold on a final-sale basis and subscriptions are prepaid and non-refundable, except for the remedies the law requires for faulty, damaged or misdescribed goods.

Your account and conduct

You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity under it; tell us promptly if you think it has been used without your permission. Use the site only for lawful purposes — do not try to break, overload, scrape at scale or interfere with it, and do not upload anything unlawful. We may suspend or remove access for a breach of these terms.

Intellectual property

CRAFT, the websites, and all their content — text, photographs, illustrations, layouts, logos, and the CRAFT and Compound names and marks — are owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. Buying a copy or subscription gives you the printed item and personal, non-commercial use of it; it does not transfer any rights in the content. You may not copy, reproduce, resell, scan, redistribute or make commercial use of CRAFT or site content without our written permission. Contributors and featured subjects retain their own rights as agreed with us separately.

Disclaimers and our liability

The site and content are provided “as is”; we do not promise the site will always be available or error-free. Nothing in these terms excludes any right you have under Nigerian consumer law (including the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act) or other mandatory law that cannot be excluded. Subject to that, our total liability to you for anything connected with an order, a subscription or your use of the site is limited to the amount you paid us for the item or subscription in question, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost data or lost opportunity.

Events outside our control

We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control — including print, supply, courier or customs delays, strikes, power or network failure, natural events, or government action.

Indemnity and general

You agree to cover our reasonable losses arising from your breach of these terms or misuse of the site. If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest still applies; if we do not enforce a term straight away, we may still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours (for example on a sale of the business) without reducing your rights. These terms, with the Refund, Returns & Delivery Policy and the Privacy & Cookie Policy, are the whole agreement between us about their subject.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and the courts of Lagos State have jurisdiction, without affecting any mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence. We prefer to resolve issues directly first — please contact us and we will try to put it right.
